Rank the Ruler: Pokémon Types

This is an entirely new style of Elimination game I have thought of, and it is an interesting one based on something similar to ranked-choice voting. In Rank the Rulers, you have to rank the list of items, in this case Pokémon types, from favorite to least favorite, and each item on the list gets a point score that decreases from favorite to least favorite due to that user's vote. In this case, since there are eighteen Pokemon types, the Pokémon type that I will rank as the best, Dark, will get seventeen points, and each further rank down decreases by one point, until my least favorite type, Rock, gets zero points. Whichever type gets the most points by the end wins, as total rankings from users are combined into the final points score.

Unlimited vote changes are allowed, up until February 7th at 5 PM EST when this thread will close, and I will post that this thread has closed so there is more clarity. I will also post the current rankings on both the ends of both the first third and the second third. However, changing your vote to not reflect your actual opinion for tactical reasons, for example, placing your seventh favorite Type at your 1st Place spot because you'd rather have it win than your sixteenth favorite type also placing high is greatly discouraged, as well as not allowed. Your rankings should always be in every aspect your opinion, not in any aspect a tactical calculation.

Points per place:
1st Place- 17 points
2nd Place- 16 points
3rd Place- 15 points
4th Place- 14 points
5th Place- 13 points
6th Place- 12 points
7th Place- 11 points
8th Place- 10 points
9th Place- 9 points
10th Place- 8 points
11th Place- 7 points
12th Place- 6 points
13th Place- 5 points
14th Place- 4 points
15th Place- 3 points
16th Place- 2 points
17th Place- 1 point
18th Place- 0 points

I will show how this is done one time with points but when other users post their rankings this is not needed, and other users are encouraged to merely show their rankings without the point score it causes.

If there are any confusing parts of this gameplay, please let me know as this is a very new type of game.

I feel like the end date is too far away (I'd go for 1 month instead of 3) but other than that I like this idea!

2. Grass (25 points)
3. Ghost (30 points)
4. Psychic (24 points)
5. Dragon (17 points)
6. Dark (29 points)
7. Steel (23 points)
8. Water (17 points)
9. Bug (12 points)
10. Flying (21 points)
11. Electric (21 points)
12. Fire (17 points)

14. Normal (5 points)
15. Rock (3 points)
16. Poison (10 points)

I have decided I mostly agree with this, so will make the deadline in one and a half months, just in case someone stumbles upon this thread a bit later and/or needs a lot of time to form their exact rankings.

Here's my list:

2. Water
3. Fairy
4. Electric
5. Fire
6. Grass

All right, we're a third of the way into the game. Due to Toadettefan's vote, Psychic is now extremely narrowly in the lead.

Come to think of it I'm gonna exactly swap out Bug's and Ice's placing; at least some Bug Pokémon have had a major impact on my game mainly Heracross, Scolipede, and Vikavolt. Meanwhile very, very few Ice Pokémon have really made a standout impact on my experience playing a Pokémon game
1. Dark
2. Ground
3. Ghost
4. Electric
5. Flying
6. Steel
7. Fire
8. Psychic
9. Grass
10. Poison
11. Water
12. Bug
13. Fighting
14. Dragon
15. Ice
16. Fairy
17. Normal
18. Rock

Just an update that I will post the 2/3 into the game rankings with a very small analysis on January 22nd.

Alright, here are rankings 2/3 of the way in. Because of Power Flotzo's vote, the type in the lead has changed from Psychic to Ghost, with a not as much as with Psychic before but still narrow, lead of 3 points. Despite not being anyone's first place right now, it still had three out of four users put it in their top three. The type in last place still, and by an even larger margin now, is Rock with a humiliating 3 points, and if InsaneBlathers hadn't cast a 15th place vote which still is not a great place, it would have goose egg points.

Something I was wondering: why does everyone else here dislike Ground so much? Ground type Pokémon have the ability to not take any damage from Electric types, good moves like Earth Power and Earthquake, and good Pokémon like Excadrill, Krokorok, and Mudsdale. Ground is definitely one of the better types in my opinion.

Current Rankings (2/3 Way):
1. Ghost (56 points)
2. Psychic (53 points)
3. Dark (51 points)
4. Water (50 points)
5. Electric (49 points)
6. Grass (47 points)
7. Fire (43 points)
8. Ice (38 points)
9. Fairy (37 points)
10. Flying (36 points)
11. Steel (29 points)
11. Dragon (29 points)
13. Poison (22 points)
14. Bug (21 points)
15. Ground (18 points)
16. Fighting (17 points)
17. Normal (13 points)
18. Rock (3 points)

I don't like most of them except for the Sandshrew, Phanpy, Nincada,Trapinch, and Shellos lines. They're also very weak to Water and Grass types.

Come to think of it I have given four-day notices a time or two before for my 2020-2022 Elimination threads, so here is a four-day notice that this thread closes on February 7th at 5:00 PM. If any user is considering adding their vote or changing their vote, that date and time is the deadline to do so, and there are no exceptions.

Alright, this thread is now closed! This ends my one-and-a-half-year streak of making and concluding Elimination games. Do not post the winner in the List of Winners thread, I need to be the one who posts the winner because I need to see if there were some details I missed extremely quickly.

This was a quite good game, with a worthy winner even though my third choice won instead of my first choice, and my second choice did not do amazing.

Final Rankings:
1. Ghost (56 points)
2. Psychic (53 points)
3. Dark (51 points)
4. Water (50 points)
5. Electric (49 points)
6. Grass (47 points)
7. Fire (43 points)
8. Ice (38 points)
9. Fairy (37 points)
10. Flying (36 points)
11. Steel (29 points)
11. Dragon (29 points)
13. Poison (22 points)
14. Bug (21 points)
15. Ground (18 points)
16. Fighting (17 points)
17. Normal (13 points)
18. Rock (3 points)
